Unlike other hikes, the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Biological Reserve has a special value. It is managed by the administrative board of the Santa Elena Public High School and a percentage of the money raised is destined for the education of the youth in the community.

The magic in Monteverde is not only in its beautiful natural landscapes, but in its people too. They are the result on the Costa Rican peasant idiosyncrasy, and influenced by the Quaker people that arrived to this land many years ago.

This is considered more than just a tour: it is run by a group of biologists, naturalist guides, and conservationists, who have been interested in educating and instilling a reflexive thinking about the importance of the amphibians.

This tour is located in Santa Elena downtown and it is project for investigation and education to preserve orchids. This garden offers a collection of more than 450 orchids, each species properly identified with its scientific name. Among you will endemic species of Monteverde and a collection of miniature orchids, including the world’s smallest.
