Founded in 2012, the Monteverde Community Fund is a philanthropic organization that unites diverse resources, stakeholders and strategies to promote sustainability initiatives in the Monteverde region and its surrounding communities. Registered as a non-profit membership association in Costa Rica, our model reflects that of many community foundations found throughout North America, Europe and Africa.
Our founding members which represent the public, private and non-governmental sectors, support local entities who propose innovative and constructive solutions to emerging environmental, social and economic challenges within the region.
We fundraise in order to support local projects, we provide technical assistance to community groups and organizations, and we encourage networking between entities at different levels. Our flagship initiative, the Monteverde Traveler’s Philanthropy Program, unites a network of tourism companies around the destination to raise funds for community-defined priorities such as the Bellbird Biological Corridor and the Monteverde Human Development Plan.
How can I help?
